Solar Charger Circuit Project Using Transistors
A very simple solar charger circuit project can be designed using few external electronic parts . This simple solar charger circuit is capable of handling charge currents of up to 1A. Alternate component values are given in the figure for lower current applications.
Solar Charger Circuit Project Using Transistors circuit diagram :
The only adjustment is the voltage trip point when the current is shunted through the transistor and load resistor. This should be set with a fully charged battery. As the transistor and R3 have the entire panel’s output across them when the battery is fully charged, all of the current from the panel will be going through R3 and the Darlington transistor TIP112, so these must be well heat sunk. Adjust R1 for the trip point, usually 14.4 V – 15 V for a 12 V SLA or a 12 V Ni-Cd battery.

Solar Panel Wiring Diagram Data Sheet
Solar Panel Wiring Diagram Data Sheet. OmniSite OEM Solar Module kits include a solar module and the OmniSite SWIL6 prewired voltage regulator with output cable. The OEM kits are supplied with a fixed tilt, 45° side-of-pole mount. The controller features a multi-function LED indicator and fuse protection. OmniSite single crystalline, high-efficiency solar modules are manufactured to exceed industry standards providing exceptional reliability and maximum power output. A twenty-year OEM warranty reflects the superior quality and assures long product life. The aluminum side-of-pole mounts include two clamps for nominal 2.5″ through 4″ poles (OD 2.875″ through 4.5″) and includes a 5 ft. cable.WARNING: For safety reasons, before hooking up wires, cover up the solar panel cells. A black trash bag works great for this. • Hook up the wires on the Sunsaver-6 Regulator in order by number, 1 thru 6. • For best results, face the panel due south at a 45 degree angle. • The main battery should sit on the bottom of the enclosure that houses the Sunsaver-6 regulator. • It will be necessary to drill one hole in the solar regulator enclosure for wiring purposes. • DO NOT plug in the backup small internal battery that comes with your OmniSiteRTU. Use only the large, external battery supplied with the solar panel unit.

Home Build Solar Panel System
After I did my homework I found out that there was a solar cell manufacturer just a few hours away from my house who could supply me with the needed cells (otherwise I could buy those online as they’re easy to obtain from other sites). With information I collected from various sources I made a wiring diagram and did I got ordinary glass from a local supplier. Tools I needed came from my local DIY store and I was ready to start. See the needed materials list below witch not only states all the needed materials but also the price I paid for it and the shop I bought them from. The material list is for one panel only and the list of the total system is for 2 panels, one inverter and production meter. Installation material like wire, junction boxes, screws and holding brackets I didn’t had to buy as those I still had in the shed or made my self. I soldered the solar cells according to the wiring diagram in series as this added the voltage of each cell together to achieve the desired (and highest) output. I made a 28 cell panel (4 strings of 7 cells) as this is fitting the best in my garden and would give me 28×0.5V=14V (theoretically). The amperage I didn’t know yet as I bought B quality cells to play around with (this saved me some expenses to mess around with).
